What happens when your home is turned into a house of horrors? Stranger In the House is a true-crime podcast that investigates stories of home invasions, murderous spouses, and all manner of heinous acts committed in the one place you should feel the safest. We look at crimes that will make you want to lock your doors and pay closer attention to the ones you live with. It will make you ask the questions, ‘what is a stranger?’ and ‘is there one in my house right now?’
Host Alexa Morrissey deep dives into a new home horror story every week.
Alexa is a podcaster and writer from Brooklyn -- not the Williamsburg version, more the beach rat one. Born and raised, rattled by all the local city news her investigator mom would feed her, the comic book world her writer/director dad unleashed, and the constant buzz of the city itself. She may have spent too much time watching Bones in high school, Special Agent Seeley Booth sealing the deal for her four years to follow in anthropological studies. Post grad, Alexa entered law school, possibly because she knew someone who seemingly had their life together who had done the same. But it turned out, that Alexa's interest was not in the law behind the cases, but in the crimes themselves. That, legalese, and not being able to find another artist/writer type in the entire PSU Law program was enough for her to call it quits. Alexa has since gone on to produce hundreds of hours of reality television, and her heart lies in the telling of true stories. Her time studying humans and human culture throughout history, paired with too many hours of reading over horrific cases, led Alexa to her fascination with the psychology of criminals, and it is that fascination that leads us all to Stranger In The House.
